Welcome back to the second installment of Kim’s Stuff! This week we are featuring an item that will take you back to when you were a kid…and some fun decorating party ideas!
First up is an item that I found while Christmas shopping for DeckACards. It is a set of 300 “guaranteed to be more than eighteen years old,” factory sealed Baseball Cards for 24.95 As I read about the possibilities of finding rookie cards and hall of famers such as Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey Jr, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson, and Mike Schmidt (just to name a few), I could just see the excitement on DeckACards face when he opened them on Christmas morning.
Of course, it is not guaranteed that you will find one of the cards mentioned, but watching DeckACards’ face light up as he opened each of those wax packs made it all worth it. And just in case you’re wondering, yes, the gum is still inside many of the packs – but we don’t suggest eating it!
Next up are decorating ideas from DeckACards’ graduation party. With his love for the Cardinals I knew it had to be a baseball themed party, complete with ballpark snacks. For the food table I bought some Astroturf (best price was found at Sutherlands Lumber) to use as a tablecloth and mini baseball cake toppers for a touch of fun. I looked all over for a set that had players in red uniforms but could not find any at the time – so I used a set from a company called Wilton. Since the party, I found a vintage set of red and blue uniformed players.
I made baseball themed bunting to hang above the food table and had guests sign a baseball bat so DeckACards would have a fun keepsake from the day. I placed some pictures of the party decor below. If you have any questions about any of the items in the pictures, please email me at ContactCardsNStuff@gmail.com.
Oh…and the stack of mini St. Louis Cardinals helmets below…we used those for ice cream sundaes!
No Cardinals party is complete without the great Jack Buck, right?
